Praan Naturals Angelica Root CO2 Select Extract is produced from the roots of Angelica archangelica, a plant that offers a fascinating history and numerous benefits for wellness applications. Aromatically, it possesses an herbaceous, woody aroma that we find to be a bit warmer than its essential oil counterpart.

This lovely CO2 extract is medium to dark yellow in color and is fluid at room temperature. It possesses a much longer shelf life than does Angelica Root Essential Oil because the production of Angelica Root Essential Oil exposes the oil to a great deal of heat during production. The CO2 extraction process uses virtually no heat and thus allows for a longer shelf life. The CO2 extraction process is also able to better capture the heavier aromatic molecules that cannot be easily captured during essential oil distillation.

Angelica Root CO2 Select Extract is a base note that blends well with many other CO2 extracts and essential oils, especially those in the herbaceous, floral, citrus, spice and wood families. Aromatically, we find that it blends especially well with basil, clary sage, patchouli, vetiver, chamomile and lavender.

For emotional wellness, Angelica Root CO2 Select Extract is an especially grounding and balancing oil. It can help ease stress and soothe feelings of hopelessness, despair and grief. For spiritual applications, it is believed to be very helpful for meditation and seeking inner guidance.

Angelica Root CO2 Select Extract is highly phototoxic due to its significant composition of bergaptene (approximately 1.5%). This is approximately 20 times greater than the bergaptene present in its essential oil counterpart. We strongly recommend that you take that into consideration before incorporating Angelica Root CO2 Select Extract into any leave-on topical formulations. For such applications, it is recommended that sun or UV exposure is avoided for at least 12 hours.
