A member of the Burseraceae plant family, Commiphora Myrrha is a species of myrrh that is native to Northeast Africa. Commiphora Myrrha are small trees that are prized for the amber brown aromatic oleoresin that seeps from the tree when it is cut or injured. The dried resin helps to protect the injured area of the tree as it heals. Commiphora Myrrha s not classified as an endangered species by The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources).
